Week 2 – The famous blue field of Boise State

2023 Week 2 College football picks and commentary

Good to get that first one in

I had a great start to the season at Colorado State. It was a thoroughly good time up until we entered Canvas Stadium and the game started. See my full review here.

This Week’s picks:

Last week – average

For awhile, it looked like I might go four and O, but Penn State and Virginia Tech managed to find their offense. PSU was a particularly bad beat with a late score from the Nittany Lions. With that I went from undefeated to just average. The late change to Utah paid dividends as Florida continues to struggle to return to form. As for the game we went to, CSU’s defense did their best, but got no help from a hapless offense.

Who I like this week:

New Mexico State has to come all the way to Lynchburg to play the Flames. I like Liberty to take advantage of the jet-lagged Aggies. I am going to ride the Prime Train until it stops. I like Colorado to handle Huskers. I have done zero research on App State this year, but I can’t see UNC covering the spread for this game. These kids all know each other, and pride ought to be enough for App State to keep it close. As for the game we are at this week, we are going to go with Boise State. I will cheering away with the rest of the Bronco faithful on Saturday. Other random thoughts for Week Two:

  • Not a good weekend for you if you’re a diabetic. Cupcakes galore on the schedule this weekend. Ohio State, PSU, Georgia Tech, MSU. Tenn and more getting the second string plenty of time against FCS schools. One that might bite back is Albany taking on Hawaii.
  • It will be interesting to see how the emotions are at Stanford vs USC. Not going to lie, it would be nice to see a bit of karma by having the Cardinal upset the Trojans.
  • How quickly things can change. JMU is nearly a seven point favorite against Virginia. It is a small victory for all the kids at JMU that could not get into UVA. At least, they have that over the ‘Hoos.
  • As for the game of the week, Texas at ‘Bama, the Horns have played better in big games as of late. Hopefully, they give the Tide a game. I would still take Alabama though.
