I was watching the Today show a couple of weeks ago and a woman came on whom I did not immediately recognize. She was plugging her foundation, “Just be You” and the host, I think it was Sheinelle Jones, mentioned to the woman that she had a lot going on. They flashed a picture of her family, including her son in some South Carolina gear. It immediately rang a bell, and a quick google confirmed that the women was the former wife of Darius Rucker (Hootie of the “Blowfish”). I realized that I had met the son at the South Carolina game at a tailgate in 2014. It isn’t like I was hanging out with them, but rather it was one of those casual meetings you make at tailgates.
I had a great time in Columbia that weekend – from ESPN Game Day to an exciting game. The encounter made only the briefest of mentions in the review. The drunk women stumbling into our section during the game was far more amusing/interesting. Read about that and how the South Carolina visit is worth the trip here.
