The first weekend home this season after seven straight weeks away. Looking forward to relaxing in the man cave and enjoying the games. It’s a much needed respite after all the traveling and I may have overdone it this season. With the Hokies falling apart, their Friday night game with Cal may drop off my schedule. Thankfully UVa is away at UNC that weekend or I may have been tempted to go to Charlottesville.
Last Week: Rambling around Ireland
I didn’t catch any college football until I saw my DVR back in the U.S. Unfortunately my attempts at streaming YouTube TV in Ireland was unsuccessful despite some VPN shenanigans. Saturday was spent hunting last minute souvenirs and soaking in some last minute pub time. With a five hour difference, I spent most of my time in hotel tracking scores.
Observations:
- Penn State is really going to regret that bad loss to UCLA. Whatever Franklin’s West Coast team schedule is, it needs updated because the Nittany Lions slept through the first half.
- Miami at 5-0 is starting to look a little better with Florida beating Texas. With their remaining trip through the tulips of a schedule, they could might go undefeated.
- The FBS really needs relegation. UMass has a 0.213 winning percentage (26-122) since joining the FBS in 2012. They have never had a winning season in the FBS and are currently 0-5.
- UNLV is 5-0. Unfortunately, I have UNLV on my schedule for next year. I am sure NIL money will rob the Rebels blind before I get to see them.
The Picks

Last Week’s Picks
Shockingly I had my best week at 2 – 2. And if not for a greedy Crimson Tide, I could have been 3-1. That’s what this season has come to. Crowing about almost going 3-1.
- Baylor was lucky to win against K-State let alone cover.
- Alabama scores with 16 seconds left to cover. Really, just take a knee especially since Vanderbilt basically gave you the game with two turnovers in the red zone.
- Kent State lost to Oklahoma by 44. Fortunately the line was 44.5. Winner Winner
- Likewise, UNC Charlotte lost by 28, but the line was 28.5. Wahoo.
