My wife is very particular about Christmas decorations. So much so that, at best, I get to make the occassional suggestion. Ninety-five percent that input is met with a look of utter disdain. My Pittsburgh Christmas tree is allowed only in my man cave, far from public display. However, this year my wife is in full Grinch mode given that family, both immediate and extended, won’t be joining us.
With a shrug of her shoulders and an “Ef It”, it was deemed the living room centerpiece 12′ tree could be the Pittsburgh Tree. My heart swelled with joy. There is nothing like a black and gold Christmas.
Adding to my joy is that the Steelers finally seem to have it going in the right direction with Rodgers dialing in and leveraging all those years of experience. I am not so naive to think they could not still slip up, but I have not been this positive for years. Here’s hoping you find the same level of optimism this holiday season.

Different Week – Same Title: Not Great but not Awful
- Okay, I will conceded that Tulane and JMU looked completely overwhelmed in the first round games. Perhaps with a twelve team field, the committee should reconsider the automatic bid (or perhaps require that they be undefeated?)
- The lower division conference games tended to be blow outs. The D2 and FCS games were interesting for about a half.
- The Domers still don’t get it. Before the games – Bama and Miami didn’t belong. Afterwards, it was OU and Texas A&M that didn’t belong. I guess the attitude of the Fighting Irish fan is to be expected given that for years they have been getting their cake and eating it too.
- Thanks to a late realization that I need twenty more hours of CPE to keep my CPA license active, I have been treated to watching a lot of these two Hunger Games wanna-be announcers. My bowl game viewing has been temporarily sacrificed in light of this bi-annual exercise. And yes, twenty hours of accounting self-study is as boring as it sounds.

And if you didn’t get what you wanted for Christmas, check out our store because what are the holidays without a little disillusionment, mocking of friends, and the optimism of next year?
A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. (And of course, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc.)
